Kathryn Moore Obituary

6/20/1986-9/30/2011
Tom and Jo Moore have been the very proud parents of this fabulous person whose intellect and wit surpassed belief, whose tenacity and vision allowed for more quality and depth of living than most, and whose determination and compassion touched everyone who was fortunate enough to have any contact with her.
Kathryn went to Kelseyville High School, Mendocino College and then transferred to UC Berkeley. She was a theater enthusiast at the Middletown Community United Methodist Church, in school performances, and with the Summer Theater Workshops for years in Kelseyville. Many in the community recognized Kathryn through her wheelchairing door-to-door fundraising efforts for the theater and for the Big Brothers and Sisters of Lake County. Kathryn also was a devoted tutor for kids at the elementary school in Kelseyville. She went on to focus on Theater as an Agent of Social Change at UC Berkeley.
Kathryn's family would like to express deep gratitude for the support that we have been provided from the community and culture at large. She is gone but has left her inspiration and challenge to all of us to seize the life we have and give it all we've got.
There will be a Memorial service at the United Methodist Church in Middletown on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 1 p.m. All are welcome and the family respectfully requests donations made to Daraja Academy, a school for underprivileged girls in Kenya, Africa. http://daraja-academy.org or send a donation check to Daraja, P.O. Box 1096, Cobb.

Dear Jo and Tom,
I have thought of Kat and you so often. I have very fond memories of all of you as Kat went through school in Kelseyville. She was a delight and full of zest. What a model Kat was for learning and pursuit of life. Your family will always be part of my memories. You have my sincere condolences.

Our deepest sympathy to your family. Kathryn was a fiesty little lady. I'm glad she had time in college to enjoy the experience, make friends and influence others with her determination to make a difference. She will be remembered as an inspiration to many of us.

I smile when I remember Kathryn on her scooter coming down to the pool, and her sunny disposition as she grew to be a young woman. How blessed she was to have loving parents like you, Tom and Jo, and to spread her happiness to all who got to know her along her too short but wonderful life!

I will never forget the fun times Kathryn and I had together as her teacher in elementary school. She loved to read and expressed herself in words and thoughts far beyond her years. She made statements that I have always remembered

Dear Tom and Jo,
I'm so sad for your loss. I never really got to know Kathryn personally but Jo was the most positive and dedicated mother that I've ever met. May your Daughter have many Happy Trails on her journey to her Mansion. God Bless you guys.
