Mary Ann Larrea, of Lakeport, California, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family on January 27, 2022.
Mary Ann, was born in 1951, to Charles and Anne Mitchell in Oakland, California. After graduating from Holy Names High School, Mary Ann went on to obtain a degree at Gonzaga University. Following graduation, she began her career teaching first grade on Whidbey Island and then taught in Upper Lake for 30 years.
In following her dreams of teaching to Lake County, Mary Ann met Paul Larrea. They went on to have two children and were happily married, for nearly 40 years. Mary Ann was a strong, courageous woman and our family was blessed to have had her as a dedicated role model and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She gave her all to her family and Mary Ann's passing leaves a space we will be unable to fill.
Mary Ann was passionate about art, sewing, organizing and making home improvements. Her home was filled with warmth and kindness. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and seeing our country. Sometimes singlehandedly, she took trips in her motorhome to visit family and friends.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anne Mitchell, and her husband, Paul. She is survived by her two children, Kevin and Ann; her grandsons, Kameron and Kolton; her siblings, Brian, Nancy, Claire, and James; and many nieces and nephews.
A service and celebration will be held at 12 p.m. on February 26, 2022, at Medina's Watering Hole, 3272 Scotts Valley Road in Lakeport. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary
Ann's name to the Retired Teachers of Lake County, CA. Scholarship Foundation or the Paul Larrea Memorial Scholarship at Clear Lake High School.
