Dear Gordon,
I heard the sad news about your father today from Kevin Rowan who read it in the Post. Just recently there was some sort of a virtual St. Ann's class reunion and all of us have been catching up through facebook.
It's been more than 25 years, notwithstanding, I hold fond memories and do remember the strong relationship you treasured with your father and the strong bond with all your family.
Heartfelt condolescences go out to you and your family.
I hope this note finds you well.

Dear Daphne and the Giampietro family,
Pat and I loved Alex, a great and good man and fantastic sculptor. We pray for the respose of his soul and for all the Giampietros. It was an honor for me to teach Charles, Tony, and Gordon at St. Anselm's. We pray that CUA will have a memorial Mass at the Shrine with an academic procession.

Fr. Anthony: We never knew you father - but we know he must have been a great and noble man because he raised a great and noble son. Our thoughts are with you at this time. We trust you are surrounded by family and friends and embraced by their love and we know that you must have many wonderful memories of your Dad. We are thinking of you here at UST and eager for your return.

He is a great man who truly understood the life of the Catholic Faith. He sincerely lived the sacramental life of the Church.
He was a pillar of our Brookland community and with his wife raised model children for us all.
I can still remember as a boy how he told my father how the feast of the Epiphany was his favorite feast. I was too young to understand the significance of the day then; and even now I know, though I am a priest, I still do not grasp the depth of the what he grasped. How fitting it is that the Lord should call Alex to Himself on the feast he loved so much. There in Heaven he can enjoy the eternal manifestation of God.
My condolences to the whole family. My father and mother John and Mary Dolcich express their condolences also.
I will celebrate Holy Mass at Providence hospital on Jan 11 for the repose of his soul and for the family.

I have lost a unique and dear cousin. In fact he was more of a big brother to me and my brother Alex. We lived in a two family home in Brooklyn where we shared a large furnished basement. That was where all the parties took place.
Alex made it a fun place. It was always full of his fraternity brothers. They would sing songs that they composed with very funny lyrics, mostly poking fun at each other. They told jokes and they played ping pong. I was in awe. I was always on hand and they never shooed me away. It was fun to watch them plan trips to the beach and other fun places.
When Paul was in the army and we lived in Maryland, we went to Alex & Daphne's house in Washington, D.C. so we could feel comfy and cozy and at home. There was always a delicious meal prepared by Daphne who could whip up an Italian meal better than any native Italian.
Through the years he always mailed me articles of interest that he thought would help me to understand the values that he wanted to share with me. His Christmas presents were always a thick book whose writing was always way above my head. It was only a few years ago that I read "Anna Karenina", which he gave me when I was young.
He taught us family values and a love of learning. Well done - Cousin - You paid your dues. You have earned your peace and rest in the Lord.
We will miss you and it will never be the same.
