Allen Bernardini Obituary

Allen J. Bernardini
"Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather".
November 10, 1938 - January 13, 2025.
Allen J. Bernardini, 86, of Morris, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at home, with his beloved wife, Linda, by his side.
In addition to Linda, Allen is survived by his sons, Brett Bernardini of Millbrook, NY, and Kevin Bernardini and his wife, Kathy, of Davidson, NC; his grandsons, Jake, Joe (and his wife, Rachel), and Nick; and his great-granddaughter, Scarlett Brooke. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert "Pop" and Mary (Grzybek) Bernardini, and his brothers, Albert and Gary.
Born in New Haven and raised in Meriden, Allen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Allen maintained deep roots in his hometown, nurturing friendships that spanned decades-from kindergarten to high school. This past Holiday Season, he enjoyed celebrating with many of these lifelong friends, a testament to the enduring connections he greatly valued.
Allen was a man of remarkable creativity and insatiable intellectual curiosity. His passion for electrical engineering, combined with a sharp business acumen and an exceptional work ethic, led him to establish a new operating division of Veam in the 1970s, where he eventually became president. A true leader, Allen cared deeply for his employees and maintained friendships with many of them long into his retirement.
His role at Veam brought him numerous opportunities for travel, which he embraced wholeheartedly. Allen especially treasured his trips to Italy, the birthplace of his father, where he reconnected with 'lost family' and cherished time with close friends.
Later in his career, he served as President of Winchester Electronics (Watertown, CT), where he successfully led the company through a period of significant growth and innovation, retiring after a distinguished tenure.
A kind-hearted and generous soul, Allen was always ready to lend a hand to his family and friends. As President of the Deer Island Board, he dedicated countless hours. He understood the richness of a life lived in service to others and embodied the belief that giving brings its own profound rewards.
Allen will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The Bernardini family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Deer Island community, cherished friends, and the compassionate staff of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Litchfield County for their unwavering support.
Arrangements: A celebration of Allen's life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 12 PM at Chase Parkway Memorial, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, 06708. Burial with military honors will be private and at the convenience of his family, in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 am until the service at 12 noon.

Allen was an always kind, caring and solicitous neighbor to my parents Chandulal and Nalini Nathwani who lived in their cherished Deer Island community for nearly 40 years. We never feared about their aging in place because Allen always kept a watchful eye and was ever present to help them with everything including putting up their window air conditioning units every summer. I will miss his quiet strength as will many many others I´m sure. He leaves his indelible mark on this world and an amazing legacy of joy in Linda, their children, grandchildren and great grandchild. Today we celebrate a life well lived with all of you and send prayers for his safe journey onwards to an eternity of peace. Lots of love from Sanjiv, Surya and Krish Nathwani.
