March 31, 1917 - May 6, 2024
Doris (Germain) Brown passed away at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown, Connecticut, on Monday, May 6th, 2024, at 107 years old. She was born March 31, 1917 in Wallingford, CT, the daughter of Francois Xavier Germain and Margaret (Comerford) Germain, who predeceased her. A long time resident of East Haddam, CT, she was predeceased by her husband, Frank Brown, and her children, Kevin Francis McCleland and Janice Brown Petrucci. Her survivors include her daughter, Mary Beth Brown-Traynor of Glastonbury, CT; her sons, John Gregory "Jack" McCleland and his wife Elizabeth Campbell of New York City, Robert Brown and his wife Alice Brown of Plainville, CT, and Donald Brown of Plainville, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean Traynor, Alex Traynor, Kellyann Kosma, Ashley Pederson, Eric Brown, Rebecca Brown, Darren Brown, Darcy Brown, Dawn Grodski, Ronald Petrucci, Denise Petrucci and Debbie Petrucci, many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Doris had an interesting and varied life. She grew up in Wallingford, CT, living through the Depression and working at Stanley-Judd during WWII, inspecting bullet casings. She later retired from Wallace's Silverware to raise a family. After her husband retired, they moved to East Haddam, CT. She had many friends and enjoyed spending time with her many extended family and neighbors. She was active in the Sunset Acres Association and an active member of St. Bridget of Kildare, as well as the Ladies Guild. She was a loyal friend and loved and will be missed by many. Her children and many of her extended family have fond memories of summers spent at a rented cottage on Clinton Beach and at her lake house on Bashan Lake. She was never one to miss a party.
There will be no viewing. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bridget of Kildare, 75 Moodus-Leesvile Rd., Moodus, Connecticut, Monday, May 13th, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of her life will be held after the service. Burial will be at the St. Bridget of Kildare Cemetery.

I will always remember our wonderful times at Sunset Acres. She was a wonderful, kind, and caring friend. I will miss her and always look at that tree by the lake with fond memories.

To say Doris will be greatly missed is an understatement. She was loved by so many. We were friends and neighbors for over 50 years in East Haddam. Doris and her family are part of our family. She loved us as her own and will be missed for her spunky and generous spirit. A beautiful smile that would light up any room and she had a heart of gold. We were blessed to have her in our lives. Sincere condolences to her family. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you. Paul, Deb (Bostelman) Bethany Stockburger and Suzanne Bostelman

When I first met her at Chestelm rehab to look at her wound, she told me she was 84. I looked at her and said you look pretty good for that age. She replied "I bet you believe everything you are told, I am 105!". At that point, i wasn't sure who to believe... she was and will always be the Funniest 100 + yo Ihave ever met!
