Edward Kosciuk Obituary

MERIDEN - Edward Kosciuk, 86, husband of Marie (Naples) Kosciuk passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Masonic Heatlhcare Center in Wallingford.

He was born Feb. 25, 1926 in Lazduny, Belarus, the son of the late Sam and Anna (Miksza) Kosciuk. During World War II, Ed, as a teenager, was sent to a forced labor camp in Germany. After the liberation, he joined the regrouped Polish National Army in Italy, later immigrated to England, then finally came to the home of his aunt and uncle in Meriden, on March 27, 1951. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, Meriden, worked for International Silver Co. for many years and later retired from G&O Industries in North Haven. Ed loved farming, taking extreme pleasure in his vegetable garden.

In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by a son, John and his wife, Jeanne Kosciuk, of Cheshire; a daughter, Dr. Teresa Rowe and her husband, William, of Annandale, Va.; a son, Stephen and his wife, Amy Kosciuk, of Cheshire; and six grandchildren, Andrew and Kevin Kosciuk, Stephen and Misha Rowe and Jessica and Jason Kosciuk. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins in America and abroad.

A memorial service honoring Ed's life will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 12 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to a nursing scholarship that will assist Southern Conn. State University nursing students who are first or second generation in America. Contributions may be mad eto the SCSU Foundation with "The Edward and Marie Kosciuk Nursing Scholarship" in the memo section and be sent to SCSU Foundation, 501 Crescent St., New Haven, Ct 06515 or online at www.giving.southernct.edu.

John, Teresa & Steve:

My heartfelt condolences to your Mom and the Kosciuk family on the passing of your Dad. I will always cherish the days of our youth on Prescott Street. I recall, with fond memories, many conversations with your dad and can still visualize Ed working in your yard and walking down the street toward our house.

Our sympathy and prayers are with you in this time of loss.
