Mario D'Uva, 91, of Waterbury entered into the Gates of Heaven on Thursday March 26, 2026 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. He was the widower of Giovannina (Sanzo) D'Uva who passed away in November 8, 2018 after 60 years of marriage.
Mario was born in Santa Croce, Benevento, Italy on November 1, 1934, son of the late Sebastiano and Concetta D'Uva (Rinaldi). He moved from Italy to Uruguay in 1955 settling to Waterbury in 1974. He worked as a foreman for Waterbury Buckle for 24 years until his retirement in 1997. He was an avid gardener and wine maker. He was a very strong and devoted hardworking man. He enjoyed playing cards and socializing at Caffe Italia in Waterbury with his friends.
Mario leaves to honor and cherish his memory; a sister Marietta D'Uva of Uruguay; 2 sisters-in-law, Annunziata Rucci of Meriden, CT and Carmela Sanzo of Torrington, CT; 1 brother-in-law Pascuale Sanzo of Uruguay; several nieces and nephews including, Teresa Ranuio of Uruguay, Margarita Barbour and her fiancé Gerardo Rivero of Canton, CT and Maria Cristina Espinosa and her husband Tabare of Meriden, CT, Julie Ann Sanzo and her husband Nadeem of Texas, Remo Ranuio D'Uva and Antonio Ranuio D'Uva both of Uruguay, Michael Sanzo and his wife Nikki of South Carolina; several great nieces and nephews including Veronica Espinosa and her husband Ubaldo Rodiles of Meriden, CT, Valerie Espinosa of Ellington, CT, and Victoria Barbour of Colorado; and several cousins including, Domenic & Rose Yardito and Thomas and Lauren Yardito all of Bethlehem and Marina Yardito and her fiancé Peter Kemper of Montana.
Arrangements: Funeral will be held Tuesday March 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to St. Leo the Great Church 14 Bentwood Drive Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Calvary's Queen of Peace Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held prior to Mass from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
