Edward Stackpole Obituary

WALLINGFORD - Edward J. Stackpole, 89, of Wallingford, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Regina Greene Stackpole.

He was born on Oct. 20, 1925, a son of the late Edward Stackpole and Gladys Bramble Stackpole Buchalter, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Edward retired from Farmers Mechanics Bank. He was a Parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lector and backup sacristan. He also belonged to the Altar Care Society, and was a volunteer at Gaylord Hospital and the Red Cross.

He is survived by his children, Carole Stackpole; Edward "Mike" Stackpole Jr. and his wife, Phyllis; Laura Stevens and her partner, Kathy Byron; Kasey Rodimon; and Meg Trofimchik and her husband, Peter; his grandchildren, Amy, Jennifer, Bryan, Michele, Michael, T.J., Jessica, Briejet, Chad, Andrew, and Nicole; his great-grandchildren, Marlene, Bryan Jr., Isabella, Paige, Joey, Nathan, Cole, Brady, Jake, Kamryn, Tide, and Levi; his sister, Marie Crowley and her husband, Neal; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Gladys Judson.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to Most Holy Trinity Church, 68 N. Colony St., Wallingford, CT 06492; or the Salvation Army, 23 St. Casimir Drive, Meriden, CT 06450.
