Eugene Milczanowski Obituary

Eugene Milczanowski
Eugene Milczanowski, 95, died July 16, 2025, in Solomons, MD, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. He was born in Hartford, CT, to Stanley Milczanowski and Michelina (Ulanecski) Milczanowski, both proud immigrants from Poland in the 1920s, who predeceased him. His two siblings, Amelia and Richard, also predeceased him.
Gene is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Stephen and Sarah; and two granddaughters. He is also survived by a niece and nephew, a grandniece, several grandnephews and a great-grandnephew. He and his family made their home in Wallingford, CT, for fifty-five years, until moving to Maryland six years ago.
Gene earned a BA from Central Connecticut State University, a MEd from University of Hartford, and a MSW from the University of Connecticut. His life's work reflected his desire to help people. He worked as a social worker for the State of Connecticut in the mental health field, and as a Director of Social Services for several mental health facilities as well as the city of New Haven and the State Mental Health Department. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Sociology at Central Connecticut State University.
Gene was a kind, steady and thoughtful man, who could usually ask just the right question to bring clarity to any discussion. His passions included golf, baseball (how about them Sox?), gardening and social justice.
Funeral services will be private. If desired, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 322 W. Lamar St., Americus, GA 31709-3543.
