Eunice Gade Obituary

MERIDEN - Eunice A. Gade, 91, died on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by loved ones.

She was born in Meriden on March 24, 1921, to the late William and Liseti Gade. A lifelong resident, she was retired from New Departure. Her love of others, human and animals (especially dogs) endeared her to all. She lived a full life, volunteering for the Humane Society, the VFW Ladies Auxillary, and loved working at the polls during elections. She was a friend to many and was always known for her response of "fine and dandy", when asked how she was doing. In her early years she loved bowling, fishing and lending a hand to whomever needed it. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Meriden.

Much gratitude is owed to the fine staff of Connecticut Baptist Home for the wonderful care given Eunice.

Her survivors include her dear niece and godchild, Diane "George" Verdi, of Lake Worth, Fla.; cousin, Jack Gade, of Meriden; niece, Cindy DeNicola; and nephew, Bobby Gade. She also leaves her dear friend, Gloria Milewski; whose daughters, Sheila Choromanski and Kathy Dorobiala, were like daughters to her. She was predeceased by brothers, Lester and "Bill" Gade.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover St., Meriden, the Rev. Christopher McKinstry will officiate. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. Relatives and friends may call at the Beecher & Bennett-Flatow Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden on Wednesday, July 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. Donations in Eunice's memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 164 Hanover Rd., Meriden, CT 06451 or to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450

I have had the great pleasure and honor of knowing Gade all of my life. She is the most caring individual I have ever known. While I am personally so sad she is no longer with us, I send my condolences to family, friends and aquaintances who were fortunate enough to know her.

My sincere condolensces for your loss. I have heard many stories from Sheila Choromanski about Gade. From all the wonderful stories I can tell that she was a remarkable, loving woman who will truly be missed by all whose life she touched.
