Francis Coppola Obituary
Frank was born in New Haven on April 10, 1940, and was the son of the late Salvatore and Lucy Fratantonio Coppola. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. He was co-owner of the former James Camera shop of New Haven and later worked for United Aluminum for many years until his retirement. Frank had a love of photography and videography. From the 1960's to the 1990's, Frank enjoyed filming the Yale Football games with his son, Frank Jr., by his side. He also freelanced for WTNH and local surgeons by filming educational videos. He enjoyed kayaking, dancing, running, playing basketball, traveling, good wine and New Haven pizza. Most of all he enjoyed his children and grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally.
He was the father of Frank J. Coppola, Jr. (Karin), Karyn Heller (Erik) and Robin Coppola (Shaun Berard); grandfather of Mackenzie and Ava Coppola, Brett and Brendan Heller, and Avery Berard; brother of Patty Butler and Marie Nuzzello and friend and former spouse of Nancy Coppola. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a friend and mentor to many special people throughout his lifetime. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the amazing staff at Portland Care & Rehab Center and Middlesex Hospice.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Feb. 24 at St. Mary's Church, 731 Main St., Branford. Interment will be private. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Folds of Honor at www.foldsofhonor.org.The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., assisted the family.

Dearest Frank and Family: Frank as a photographer you are the best a perfectionist in all ways. From high on top the yale press box with your trusted Arriflex to the race tracks in n.y and n.j. You never missed a play!!!!!!!!! And yes all those Saturday nites to 3am in the morning processing the film . As a kid you always tought me to get in there and punch. And yes Frank its your way just like Sinatra!!!!!!!!!!! Well now Cecil B DE mil will have competition in heaven MR Coppola has Arrived. Rest in Peace in Gods Hands Frank. i would like to extend my deepest sorrow in hearing of the passing of frank he will be greatly missed but never forgotten ..
i first met frank when i was hired at united aluminum corp back in 1985 as i was a new employee
he was a awesome supervisor he was a straight shooter ..fair and honest to a fault !
he said what he Ment and Ment what he said as the saying goes, he had the respect of the workers at United Aluminum corp
