George Fedak Obituary

George Fedak, 92, of Southington, died peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2009.
He was the beloved husband of the late Olga (Tertichny) Fedak. Born in St. Louis, MO, he resided there for over 80 years prior to moving to Southington in 1997.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Monterey in the Pacific Campaign and was recently made an honorary Marine. He retired from the USDA after many years of employment as a federal meat inspector. He later worked as a driver for Enterprise Leasing in St. Louis and finally was employed by Stop & Shop in Southington as a bagging clerk until his 91st birthday. He was an active member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, New Britain, where he served on the Parish Council and was a member of the Men's Club and sung in the choir. He was a 60-year member of the American Legion, serving as Past Commander in St. Louis, and was a member of Kiltonic Post #72, Southington.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Dresko and Very Rev. John Dresko of Southington; and four grandchildren, Christopher Dresko of Southington and his fiancée Chelsea Pescosolido of Vernon, Gregory Dresko of Phoenix, Ariz., Nicholas Dresko and his wife Melissa of Newington, and Juliana Dresko and her fiancé Mark Federoff both of Las Vegas, Nev.
He will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, his sense of humor and his love of life. His funeral service was held on June 25 at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 305 Washington St., New Britain. Interment with military honors were held on June 26 in the Monastery of St. Tikhon's Cemetery, So. Canaan, PA. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, P. O.
