Edmond Bagdonas

PITTSFIELD Edmond F. Bagdonas, 90, of Cataumet, formerly of Pittsfield, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, with Madeline L. (Lusignan) Bagdonas, his wife of 65 years by his side. He was born in Pittsfield, an only child to the late Louis J. and Anna P. (Piscukaitis) Bagdonas. Edmond was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, class of 1942. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a navigator bombardier. He attended RPI in Troy NY, graduating with the class of 1952. He worked as a mechanical engineer for GE Corporation in Pittsfield and retired in 1985 before moving to Cataumet. He enjoyed coaching his granddaughters' softball team and tutoring students in math. He also loved to travel and spend time with his children, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his beloved wife, Madeline, he is survived by his children: James E. (Linda) Bagdonas of Bourne, Alan P. (Denise) Bagdonas of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Richard L. (Phyllis) Bagdonas of Shallotte, NC; his grandchildren: Amie (Patrick) Kirby, Ryan (Alberto) Bagdonas, Lindsey (Jason) Methia, Carly (Gregory) Donohue, Lauren Bagdonas, Louis Bagdonas and Derek Fenwick; his great grandchildren: Maddie, Siena, Luca, Camillo, James, Anna, Penelope, Kevin and Weston; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and "his brother overseas". FUNERAL NOTICE: A period of visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Rt. 28A), WEST FALMOUTH. Following the visitation, a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12p.m. at St. John the Evangelist church, 841 Shore Rd, Pocasset. Burial to follow at 1:45 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, PO Box 804, Hyannis, MA 02601 (www.needyfund.org).
