Geremia Mariconda Obituary
He was born Feb. 27, 1950, in Santa Lucia Di Serino, Provincia de Avellino of Italy, a son of the late Basilio and Teresa (Bove) Mariconda. He retired from Metro North after 40 years and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. After retiring, Jimmy found his passion in flea markets, fixing lawnmowers, and being a car enthusiast. Jimmy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Most of all, he looked forward to spending time every year driving with his wife, Kathy, to his timeshare in Florida and spending vacations with his family. He loved being outdoors, working on his home and cars, and was always the life of the party. He will never be forgotten and will always be remembered by every single person he met.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, he is survived by his children, Basilio Mariconda and his wife, Gina, Teresa Mariconda and her significant other, David Scranton, and Giulia Cardona and her husband, Anthony; his grandchildren, Nico Cardona, Alex Cardona, Isabella Mariconda, Marcello Mariconda, Gabriella Sampaio, Joshua Dimasi, Mathew Merrigan, Sophia Delis, and Anastasia Delis; his sisters, Lina Ferraro and her husband, Andrew, and Antoinette Mariconda; his stepchildren, Frank Dimasi and his wife, Deanna, Natuzza Dimasi and her significant other, Michael Merrigan, and Lina Delis and her husband, Vasilis Delis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His family would like to thank Lori and Beth at MidState Oncology for their compassion throughout Jimmy's treatment.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Wednesday, March 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Joseph Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to MidState Medical Center, Development Office, 435 Lewis Ave., Meriden, CT 06451. Please direct any gifts in his name towards the Cancer Care Center.
