Dear Lisa and Eli,
It is with great sadness that I have just learned of your Dad's passing by coming across this obituary. The last time I tried to call him was several months ago. Now I know why there was no answer. I had no contact information for either of you. Your Dad was a wonderful person, as was your Mom. You might remember that your Aunt Gert and my late mother (Miriam Chasen Kerachsky) were life long friends, going all through school together and remaining close through the years. I was also close to your Aunt Gert. My mother's mother and your sweet grandmother, Sadie, were also close friends. Consequently, I grew up knowing all three of the "Sternlieb sisters." When I was pre-school age, I spent many hours at my late grandmother's little grocery store. Often one of the Sternlieb's would take me to your grandmother's apartment for an afternoon. I cherish my memories of your family and the many happy hours spent with them. I also enjoyed conversations I had with your Dad about apple varieties and some of the work with apples done, as he pointed out, at Cornell's Geneva Experiment Station. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Lisa and Eli,
I just learned that your wonderful father died. I have loved and admired Gordon and Millile since 1982 when Millie and I started teaching together at Hummiston School.
May God's love and grace uplift and sustain you all during this sad time of loss.
