"Doc" was very instrumental in planting the seed for the Connecticut emergency medical services in the early 1970's and bringing it to what it is today.
He and Videen gave of their time to pass their knowledge and personal experiences to help teach local first-responders how to help their fellow man in times of sickness and injury.
It was truly a gift to know "Doc"!
My condolences and prayers to the McGaughey family.

Dr. McGaughey was the doctor for the Wallingford Fire Department for many, many years. He became a friend to the members of the department and their families. I will be forever grateful for what he did for my Dad and all of our family. Thank you Doctor McGaughey.
May God bless Dr. McGaughey and his family.

He was a wonderful man, kind and patient. His wife Videen was an instructor at the MWH School of Nursing when I attended from 1970-1973... she was a very special lady in her own right. I am sure the family is mourning the end of this generation... what wonderful memories they are sure to have.

My condolences to all the McGaughey family. Doc McGaughey was a true blessing to Wallingford and a passionate supporter of quality Emergency Medical Services. He was a compassionate, I nspiring and gentle soul; and I will be forever grateful to the positive influence he had on my Nursing and Public Health Career. His unselfish devotion to community, state and country strongly influenced my volunteerism in non profits. We first met in the mid 1970s when he nudged me to become Wallingford's CPR Coordinator for both the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. We served on the municipal committee to establish the local 911 Emergency Call system. We also served on the South Central CT Emergency Medical Services Council for almost a decade together. His experience and advice were always invaluable! He is one of the most humble physicians I have ever known and always a gentleman. I was blessed to know Videen as well and I am glad their souls are together.
