Janet LeClair Obituary

Janet O'Grady LeClair
March 20, 1936 - September 15, 2024
Janet O'Grady LeClair, 88, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 15, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Alden J. LeClair.
Janet was born in Waltham, MA, March 20, 1936, a daughter of the late Bernard and Hilda (LeLievre) O'Grady.
Janet lived a full life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She graduated from Lyman Hall High School in 1953. She worked as an administrative expert for Wallingford Steel, Industrial Time & Systems, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. When not taking joy in family, Janet lived a life of service donating countless hours of her time to numerous organizations such as Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, PTA/PTO, The Emblem Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She enjoyed reading, UCONN sports, bowling, watching tennis, ceramics, and knitting. She loved animals, especially cats. But more than anything, Janet loved having family at her home for holidays and cookouts.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan A. (LeClair) Sharp; her sons and daughters-in-law, Alden ("Skip") J. LeClair Jr. and Ann Gullans, Steven J. and Lesley LeClair, and David A. and Rose LeClair; her grandchildren, Haley (LeClair) Copeland, Evan LeClair, Desi LeClair, Charlotte LeClair, Heather LeClair, Rachel (Murphy) Gerakaris, and Hannah (Murphy) Kirsch; her great-granddaughter Eleanore Copeland; her brother Bernard O'Grady Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Phyllis (O'Grady) Hirth, and her son-in-law, Kevin Sharp.
Janet's family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext. on Thursday, September 26th, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to: Big Brothers Big Sisters of CT, (https://ctbigs.org/)
