Johannes Heskes Obituary
He was born in Delft, The Netherlands on Nov. 27, 1934, a son of the late Johannes and Anna (VanVelzen) Heskes. In February of 1957, Jan immigrated to the U.S. via the SS Grotebeer. He worked in various fields including farming in Vermont before becoming a respiratory therapist and starting the Anesthesia technician program at Yale New Haven Hospital. He spent his free time enjoying his family, fishing, maintaining his fish pond and participating in the Connecticut Over 30 Soccer League.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, he is survived by his daughters, Diane Heskes Vece and her husband, Joseph, of Palm Coast, Fla., Marie Heskes Allard and her husband, Roger, of Princeton, Mass., and Jennifer Heskes Jawor, of Wallingford; his son, David Heskes and his wife, Rebecca, of Cheshire; his sister, Leny Heskes Clemenkowff, of Rhenen, The Netherlands; his brother-in-law, John Davies and his wife, Pamela, of Lake Placid, N.Y.; his grandchildren, Daniel and David Vece, Dina Allard, Nathan and Hannah Jawor, and twins, Harper and Taylor Heskes; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Annie Heskes Dekker and Riet Heskes VanWoggelum; and his brother, Cor Heskes.
His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Sunday, Feb. 18, from 3 until 6 .pm. Interment will be private in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Joanne, I was very sorry to hear of Jan's passing. I met him when I attended the respiratory therapist program at Yale New Haven Hospital and was pleased when he asked me to be his best man at your wedding. Please accept my condolences. Charlie Fezzie

John,I will miss your warm smile.You had it even when you were struggling with your health-or your team!.Never got to see you too much in recent years and now I will regret that.We shared some good times and frustrating times during our period of collaboration in the Shoreline League board,but it was always good to share a beer in the peace and quiet afterwards.
