John Cella Obituary

John Augustus Cella Jr., 81, of Wallingford, beloved husband of the late Pauline R. Zrelak Cella, died peacefully, Monday, October 28, 2013 at the MidState Medical Center.

Jack was born in Wallingford, May 7, 1932 a son of the late John A. Cella Sr. and Anna Ludkwicz Cella and was a lifelong Wallingford resident. From childhood until his passing, Jack was a dairy farmer, first working with his father, then as a foreman for Joe Sartori, and ultimately as a partner with his brother in Cella Brothers Dairy. Jack will always be remembered for having a smile and handshake for everyone he met, his love of baseball, (the Red Sox!) and ready to celebrate with a shot and a beer. He leaves behind many friends he held dearly.

He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Cella Tyler and her husband Matthew of Wallingford, and his two sons John C. Cella and his wife Tracy of Wallingford and Christopher M. Cella and his wife Meredith of Durham; his 5 grandchildren Robert Cella, Olivia Cella, Ruby Cella, John Cella, Zachary Tyler and Zoe Tyler; his brother Edward Cella and his wife Phyllis of Wallingford; and three nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. in The Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford. Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the Wallingford Animal Shelter, 5 Pent Rd., Wallingford, CT 06450 or to the Meriden Humane Society, 54 Oregon Rd., Meriden, CT 06451. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford.

When I was just a kid Jackie used to pick us up as he drove by our house and bring us to the Cella farm. We rode in the back of his pickup truck. He was always wonderful to me and my family. A true gentleman and wonderful person. He will be missed.
