John E. Kowalczyk Sr.

John E. Kowalczyk, Sr., 64, of Southington, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022, after suffering injuries from a motor vehicle accident. John was born in Southington on December 30, 1957 to Mary (Snow) Kowalczyk and the late Robert Kowalczyk, Sr. He worked as the warehouse manager at TruGreen and was a skilled master mechanic. He was a talented gardener and a true jack of all trades. John will be remembered for his big smile and larger than life personality. He adored his grandchildren and was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, especially at the beach and at family gatherings. In addition to his mother Mary, John is survived by his 3 children, John Kowalczyk, Jr., of New Britain, Carleen Kowalczyk (Paul) of Bristol and Marc "Buster" Kowalczyk (Lindsey) of Bristol and 3 grandchildren, Laila, Sophia and Aaron. He is also survived by his fiancé, Bonnie Church of Wallingford, his honorary son, Dave Hobson of Bristol and 4 siblings, Robert Kowalczyk (Lea) of Southington, Jim Kowalczyk (Janet) of Bristol, Mary Petruzzi (Michael) of Plantsville and Eva Verrilli (Tony) of Southington; 6 nieces and nephews, Terri Kannenberg, Robert Kowalczyk, Jr., Megan Sarra, Joe Petruzzi (Kennedy) Jake Petruzzi and Victoria Verrilli and his former wife, Karen Bennett (Jeff) of Southington. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville. Burial will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington.
