Joseph G.E. Fortin

MERIDEN - Joseph G.E. Fortin passed into eternal rest on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. He joins his wife Helen whom he has missed dearly these past five years.

Joe was born in Holland, Vt., son of the late Phillippee and Merlinda (Poulin) Fortin. He was the baby of twelve brothers and sisters. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army in Greenland during the Korean Conflict. Joe was employed at Pratt & Whitney for over thirty years before his retirement in 1986.

Joe is survived by one of his brothers, Roland Fortin, of Derby Line, Vt. He also leaves behind his cherished children, Sandie and her husband, Robert Buteau, of Meriden, Irene, of Wallingford, David and his wife, Cindy, of Meriden, and Darlene and her husband, Jeffrey Russo, of East Berlin. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Joseph and his wife, Krista, Kimberly, Derrick Durity, Stephanie and Emily Russo; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Murphy. He was predeceased by twelve brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
