Joseph Rubsam Obituary

Joseph L. Rubsam, 86, of Somers, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, with his family at his side.

Rubsam was born Aug. 31, 1926, in Brooklyn, to John and Anna Rubsam.

Rubsam was raised in Ridgewood, Queens, and lived for more than 40 years in Glendale . He graduated from Yale University in 1947 and served in the Naval Reserve. He worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 41 years and retired as vice president and actuary in 1988. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Joseph's Church of Croton Falls. Rubsam enjoyed travel, gardening, reading and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his wife Catharine Rubsam, to whom he was married for 62 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Kathleen Muleski and her husband Robert, and his son Joseph Rubsam and his wife Catherine. He was preceded in death by his son Robert Rubsam in 1986.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Meaghan, Robert and Siobhan Rubsam, and his brother, John Rubsam and sister-in-law Mary Ann.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd., Katonah.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, 10 Croton Falls Rd., Croton Falls.

Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village .

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Rubsam's name to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
