Marion Hanning Obituary

Marion E. (McCarty) Hanning, 74, of the Plantsville section of Southington, died March 18, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at home. She was the beloved wife of Harold E. Hanning, for 55 years.

She was born June 24, 1935, in Baileyville, Maine, the daughter of the late Clifton and Ethel (Gardner) McCarty. She was a member of the Apple Valley Worship Center and led the intercessory prayer group for 10 years. Prior to her retirement, she was an accountant for Kaba and previously worked as office manager for Western Union.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Pamela and husband, William Bishop Jr., of Plantsville, and the Rev. Harold "Butch" Hanning Jr. and wife Merna, of Bristol; 10 cherished grandchildren, William Bishop III and wife, Kiersten, Jason Bishop and wife, Shamma, Melissa and husband, Scott Mulrooney, Zachary, Bryce, Tyler, Joshua, Aaliyah, Natasha and Kevin Hanning; four great-grandchildren; her three brothers, Melvin McCarty, of Southington, and Earle and Joseph McCarty, both of Alabama; a sister Helen Fournier, of Plantsville; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas McCarty; a sister, Christine Hoffman; and two twin infant sons, Roland and Ronald. The family would like to thank the Central Connecticut VNA Hospice for their loving care and kindness during her illness.

The funeral was held March 21, 2010, at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington. A Mass was held March 22, 2010, at the Apple Valley Worship Center, Southington. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Abundant Life Ministries, P.O. Box 185322, Hamden, CT 06518.
