Mark Richardson Obituary

Mark Richardson, 46, of Wallingford, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2020. Mark was born on November 28, 1973 at Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, the son of Thomas Richardson and the late Anne (Chojnicki) Richardson.

Besides his father, he is survived by his sister Kim (Richardson) Joyce of Marblehead, MA., brother Todd Richardson and his wife Kara of Colchester, nephew and niece, Tully and Rory Richardson, and his significant other Amy Gemma, along with aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He had a kind soul. Mark said hi to strangers, made friends quickly, brightened the room with his friendly and at times goofy nature, and was always generous and willing to help others. We think he would want his death to help others in any way possible. Mark died because of his addiction to opioids. Let our loss be an example to others of what a true epidemic this problem is in our communities and around the world.

Services will be private.

I miss one of my best friends daily. Running together around Wallingford. And several times just having fun at the house where he lived with his roommates. He was my best friend for several years. He asked my to his junior prom. We were always just friends. Just missing him today. Love ❤

I am so sad to hear this news. Mark and I attended college together at UCONN and I still tell stories about him today. The stories I tell are about his generosity. Rarely, in life, do you meet someone who cares so much about people. Mark was good at a lot of things, but he took the most joy in developing the talents of others, particularly in sports. If you played basketball with Mark—and you were terrible—he would just keep feeding you the ball all game, even if you never made a basket. He took care of people like that; he wanted to see everyone succeed and feel confident, no matter how hopeless the case. It pains me greatly to know that Mark suffered in this way and that I was not there for him.

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to your family. Thank you beyond belief for being transparent with Marks cause of death to possibly help someone else reading this who has the same disease. We need to be transparent about the opioid epidemic, to readers- there is no shame, reach out and get help. If only there was the same transparency and coverage as COVID-19. Wallingford community are losing exponentially more to overdoses. Thank you and prayers for peace.

So sorry to hear of Marks passing. I remember Mark when he was a young boy. He and my son Mark played on the same basketball team. I remember how much fun they had. My son passed a few years ago so I understand the pain in losing a son, brother and someone close. My wife Nancy and I will pray for him and your family.

My sincere condolences to Mr. Richardson and all of those Folks whose lives Mark touched ! I am extremely happy, under the circumstances, that Marks Family has expressed the cause of his untimely passing. Mark would have wanted that. I am sure Mark will be smiling as he looks down and sees this. If just one person gets treatment, doesnt pick up or helps someone else, it is so worth it ! Mark was an amazing man, a student of my Husbands, and later, a co-worker with me at Bozzutos. May he Rest In Peace ....and may is Family find peace knowing your honesty just may have saved someones life. Peace be with you !

So many moons ago, I had the pleasure of being the family babysitter. I loved these kids so much, and went on to have my own. I am sure that Ann was waiting for her son with open arms. Rest in peace my little soldier. Til we meet again. Thank you for sharing, we can all help to end the stigma surrounding the disease of addiction. My love to you all....

I did not know Mark, but yet I did, as a person recovering from addiction. It is a cunning, baffling, and powerful disease. So many lose the battle and leave the heartache behind. I have to belive there is peace in not having to fight the relentless compulsion anymore. I feel your pain, I truly do. I have been in your shoes more than once. Addicts are not bad people, but they are sick. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Mark, you were a kind soul. I was a few years younger then Mark and was blessed to get to know him through playing basketball at Sheehan High School. Mark was always positive, supportive and encouraged me and kept things fun. I will always be thankful for his kind spirit, encouragement and support as one of the older guys in high school. God bless you Mark & your kind soul. My heart, thoughts & prayers go out to the entire Richardson family. God bless you all. I hope your memories bring you some comfort during such a difficult time. Rest In Peace, Mark

My condolences go out to friends and family. What stands out the most is Mark's beautiful smile that lit up the entire room. Thank you so much for your transparency. My brother Terry Farrell who graduated from Sheehan High also passed this past September of an overdose. One of his recent texts he sent to a friend was of a man walking with a backpack towards the cross, in his weakest moment I believe Jesus lifted him up in the end. Please find hope in the cross of Calvary today. The old rugged cross that defeated every principality. Rejoice that we shall become like Christ new in a Kingdom where there will be no dealth, he will wipe every tear. The cross represents our hope that we will never be seperated from our loved ones again. May God Bless your family shine His face upon you and keep you in His protection, provision and love all of your days. Please contact me if you are in need of anything. Sincerly, Susan Farrell
