Maxine Riedinger Obituary

MERIDEN - Maxine Caroline (Zieminski) Riedinger, 62, of Meriden died suddenly and tragically Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in Cheshire. She was the wife of Clemens Joseph Riedinger Jr.
Maxine was born in Meriden on July 15, 1944, the only daughter of the late Alfred and Caroline (Niewiedomski) Zieminski. Maxine was a lifelong Meriden resident and a graduate of O.H. Platt High School and Laurel College. Throughout her working days, Maxine worked at Miller Johnson Printing Company of Meriden, Colonial Bridal Shoppe of Meriden, Opticare of Cheshire, and Colony Opticians of Wallingford among other employment. She was also an Avon lady for many years as she raised her three loving children. Her most recent employment was as an adoring nanny to her only grandson Quince. Maxine was an avid knitter and reader, a big fan of Sue Grafton. She enjoyed shopping for books, clothes, shoes, and unusual treasures. She enjoyed world travel and spending time on the beach and on her family's boat. Aruba was her favorite island to visit. She was a member of the Meriden Historical Society and a faithful parishioner of St. Mary Church of Meriden. Maxine was a warm and amiable woman who lit up every room she walked into. She will be sorely missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons, Clemens J. Riedinger III and his wife, Cindy Riedinger of Prospect, and Christopher A. Riedinger of Meriden; her daughter, Corryne M. Hamilton and her husband, Jamie Hamilton of Cheshire; her grandson, Quince Reid Hamilton; her mother-in-law, Lucy Riedinger of Meriden; she is also survived by many close cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, James Murphy Hamilton of Cheshire.
Maxine's funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Maxine be made to an educational trust fund for Maxine's grandson Quince Reid Hamilton. Donations can be mailed to Jamie Hamilton c/o 366 Reservoir Ave, Meriden, CT 06451.

I just learned of Maxine's passing last night from my mom, Pat DeNicola. I distinctly remember how wonderful a friend she was to my mom as she was her hairdresser and Avon Rep for a long time. My mom is just devastated by this tragic and shocking news.

Having lost my dad also in a tragic way, my mom and I know the overwhelming sadness you are feeling. Our thoughts and prayers go to all of you.

My sincere condolences to everyone who is mourning the loss of Maxine. She was a beautiful person, guide, & mom (even to us who were just friends of her kids!), and I'm sure grandmom. May peace come to all of us in our difficult journeys ahead. Much love.

I just returned from a vacation and learned of Maxine's tragic passing. I grew up on Reservoir Avenue and Maxine and I were classmates from kindergarten at Ben Franklin School all the way through Platt High School. I remember walking home from elementary school with her when she lived on Vine Street. Maxine was always an energetic, outgoing girl, who was fun to be around. Whenever I ran into her, she was the same way, full of personality, and so proud of her family. My condolences are with you during this very sad time.

My deepest sympathy is with you and your entire family during this difficult time. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your mom.

I had the opportunity to meet your mom when you brought Quince into The Hartford to show him off. Her smile and warmth was so welcoming, I felt as if I knew her forever. She was so proud of her grandson and adored him which you could see written all over her face that day. Your mom will always be with you because she will be in your heart forever.
