Michael Anziano Obituary

MERIDEN - Michael Anziano, 55, of Meriden, beloved husband of Karen McDonough Anziano and loving father of Ashly, Andrew and Amanda Anziano, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. Michael was a lover of life who enjoyed his family, camping at Wolf's Den, traveling to Aruba and Cape Cod, driving his TR6 and GTO, playing cards, darts and bocce. He was an avid New York Giants fan and enjoyed watching games with his friends and talking statistics the next day with his daughter and son. Michael graduated from Wilcox Technical High School in 1978 where he learned the trade of mechanics. Upon graduation, he worked at Pratt and Whitney for several years and then became a hardwood floor craftsman. Until his sickness kept him from working, he worked side by side with his son at their company A-1 Custom Hardwood Flooring Company. Michael was a true craftsman. He was an expert in refinishing all types of wood floors, creating pattern floors, weaving in old to new floors, staining and adding accent pieces to create beautiful works of art.

Besides his wife and children, he leaves behind his former wife, Brenda Pierce Anziano, of Orange; a brother, Gerry Anziano, of Meriden; his in-laws, Doris and Bill McDonough, and Doris Pierce; several nieces, nephews; cousins; and many good friends. He will be sorely missed at the Village Green, his local haunt, where he spent many nights meeting friends, playing cards and darts. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Patricia Anziano; as well as his "brother", James Cannon, of Meriden.

The family will receive friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Sunday Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the calling hours.

I was so shocked and saddened to learn this week of Mike's passing earlier this year. He was my first boyfriend and we shared so many great times together, going to the movies, high school proms, fishing in Noank, Angelo's Pizza. It's been 40 years since I have seen Mike. His father and mine grew up together, and Mike and I went to Robert Early Jr High. His dad would make us homemade pizza after dances. I always remember Mike as a happy go lucky guy, and it sounds like he stayed true to that his whole life. Karen,Ashely, Amanda, Andrew, Brenda, what an amazing family, I can only image how loved Mike must have felt to have his family caring for him in such a special way!! His living was not in vain!! He too have touched so many lives, his legacy lives on through each of you!! My prayers and thoughts are with you all. Michael was a great guy, he fought the big fight and made,the best of it. Ive known him since he was 9,his mom and I were very close. Michael was,in my wedding in 1971, to his cousin big Mike, I know everyone was there to meet him on the other side.

Karen I am so sorry for your loss. My husband Rick (Mikes cousin) and I loved Mike every much. We've been praying for him and now he is with his God. He has always been special to us. Mike lived with us for a while when we lived in Durham, Ct. We haven't lived in Ct since 1983 but any time we saw Mike he was the same. A happy loving soul who will be missed.

Dearest Uncle Mike,
I can't seem to find words strong enough to tell you how much I will miss you. You were always there for me no matter what was going on in our lives, you treated me like a daughter and always made special occasions extra entertaining! Who else has a godfather awesome enough to allow his son and niece to celebrate their high school graduation with bounce houses, Velcro walls and cotton candy floating through the backyard all day! I will cherish every memory we created together, from the yearly Durham fair trips (which would not be complete without giant comes from Durham dairy serve) sleep overs, rides in the GTO, birthdays and camping trips! I am so happy we were able to see you last time you came down to Florida. I am relieved to know you are in a better place and no longer in pain. I love you so much!
