Michael O. Martone
Michael Orlando Martone, 74, of Hamden passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 19th, 2024, at Yale New Haven Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria Tomei. Michael was born in New Haven on April 7, 1950, and was the son of the late Ciro D. Martone, Sr. and Margaret Immaculata Mazziotti Martone. A graduate of Eli Whitney Technical School, he later served his country faithfully in the US Army. Michael was a jeweler since the age of 16. He was a youth football coach in the Middlesex and New Haven counties for many years. He enjoyed gardening and loved his dogs. Father of Jeffrey M. Martone (Sarah) and the late Daniel J. Martone. Stepfather of Marissa Trombetta (Vincenzo) and Scott Giordano (Victoria). Grandfather of Emma, Grace, Daniel and Jacob Martone, Alessandra and Francesco Trombetta, Matteo Giordano. Brother of Joseph Martone (Anna), Elaine Martone, Sonny Martone, Jr. (Cindy) and the late Albert Martone. Also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The visiting hours will be Tuesday, Sept. 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Ave., North Haven on Wednesday morning, Sept. 25th at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for the Blind www.afb.org
