Michael I was thinking of u today only to see u are in heaven. I met Michael In 1977 we spend many years together as a couple. Michael taught me how to cook & we shared running & horses.
He loved his wine, & great sense of humor..always referred me to as JB.
Michael was so proud of his daughter, he will be missed. Until we meet again.

This morning I dreamed of Mike and looked him up online and found it's the one year anniversary of his passing.
Here's what he wrote me last year one month before he died:
Love living among the vineyards on Olivet Road. Actually, directly across the road from DeLoach. This area of Olivet, which is RRV, has quite a bit of 70+ year old old vine zin. Hope business and everyone is rockin. Call sometime when you have time and we'll catch up. I'm good. Have my bike routes out among the vineyards and love it.
I remain your good friend,
Mike on a bike
I didn't know Michael that well, but we had horses and wine and Cape Cod and love of life in common. He came by my wine tasting room for a glass once a week or so for many years. I would like his daughter to know that he talked about her all the time, how very, very proud of her he was.
Here's a picture of Mike and Michelle, when he had she and I over for dinner - steak with his own aged cheese melted over it. Plus, wine and art and laughs. He's missed.

Michael was a one-off original: chef, artist, athlete, raconteur and a decent soul. It was our pleaseure to know him.

Mike's Cactus Cafe was always a warm and welcoming great meal. Only because of his passion to serve and feed us all. We are especially sad to know that we wont have any more chance meetings and conversations with Mike when meeting up on the bike path. That, we will both miss..... aside from his killer salmon tostadas
RIP Mike

I will miss Mike, my friend and sous-chef. For the past 10 years, he's been one of the family, joining Christopher, me and the Erwin clan as an honorary family member at many holidays and family gatherings. As a fellow cook, he always helped me in the kitchen and I relied on him for his help. I'm still in shock by his passing as he was so full of life and energy. At least he was active until the end and doing what he loved!

Jimmy,
I'm saddened to learn of Mike's passing.
As a young guy I would swim at the St. Rose swimming pool and Mike would give me a ride home sitting on the handlebar of his bike.
I also remember the dynamic way he played football.
May God come to you to lessen your sorrow.
May he rest in peace.

Michael was a vibrant, warm member of Anna's vinyasa yoga class for about the last year. I think it is fair to say that everyone loved Michael. Today we dedicated the class to him, and many healing tears were shed.
We miss you Michael. As one of our classmates said, "Where are we going to get our recipes now?"
Special love goes out to Margaux and Marcia.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mike. We both graduated from Maloney High School, Class of 1960. Wonderful memories of Mike, he was so much fun to be with. The "Meriden Girls" get together to enjoy and reminisce the "Good Days" and Mike's name was mentioned. Our thoughts and prayers go with you at this difficult time.

Jimmy, Anna, Jean and Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Being a bit younger, I didn't know Mike. Being an east-sider with older brothers, I knew "Iron Mike". May he rest in peace.

I was saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Our "Meriden Girls" group was just discussing him and wondering where he was and what he was up to. I remember Mike as the sweet guy who agreed to go on New Haven Bandstand with me. I'm so happy to read that he had a good life. My thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

I met Michael in Provincetown in the early 70s. We drove across country in '76. After that I didn't see or hear from him until we re-connected about ten yrs ago. We talked on the phone a few times a month. He was always good for a laugh and he loved talking about his daughter, Margaux. He was so proud of her. The last time I spoke with him was last Thursday. I can't believe he's gone. RIP Michael.
