Pauline Luca Obituary

MERIDEN - Pauline M. Luca, 65, of Meriden, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 11, 2007, with family by her side.
Pauline was born Feb. 12, 1942, in Meriden, the daughter of the late Alcide Jacques, her beloved father. She resided in the Meriden/Wallingford area her entire life and was employed by Gaylord Hospital for over 30 years until her recent retirement. Pauline will be remembered for her gentle spirit, big heart, strength, courage, and wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered for her love of her children and grandchildren, her love of the ocean, her love of all animals, and she will be remembered for being a loyal and devoted friend. Pauline loved to travel and visited many exciting destinations throughout the world allowing her to walk the Great Wall of China, stroll through Red Square in Moscow, journey through the jungles of Peru, and bargain in the markets of Morocco, to name a few.
Pauline is survived by her loving and devoted children and grandchildren; sons, Robert Luca and Tony Luca of Meriden; daughter, Wendy Davidson and husband, Robert Davidson of East Haddam, and their three sons, Taylor, Zachary, and Max Davidson; Pauline is also survived by her beloved sister, Jeanne Filipek of Meriden; as well as several nieces and a nephew and their children, and by many dear friends.
In accordance with Pauline's wishes, there will be no funeral or burial services. A private wake for family members will be held at John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Cremation will follow at the convenience of the family. Pauline was a great lover of animals and in lieu of flowers, wanted those wishing to do so to make a donation in her memory to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
The Luca and Davidson families would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the care, compassion, and support given by Dr. Gary Tansino and staff at the MidState Medical Center Medical, Oncology and Hematology Group and by the MidState V NA and Hospice Home Care Services team during Pauline's illness. Dear Tony, Robert, and Wendy,
It was with great sadness that I learned of your mother's death this afternoon. As you know she was a kind, loving, and remarkable woman. I learned that when she was my neighbor for so many years before moving to Meriden. I also had the good fortune to work at Gaylord Hospital during her many years there and continued to see her compassionate and gentle spirit which meant so much to patients as well as co-workers. My sincere sympathy to all of you.

My family and I have lived next door to your mom for the last 11 years and regretfully only knew her in "small talk". She always greeted us with a warm smile and very friendly hello. When the weather was nice she would come over to see our dogs and talk with them because they always let her know that they were watching her.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family with deepest sympathy. She will be missed.

To Rob, Wendy and Tony:
I just want to express our deepest sympathies for the loss of our Mom. Lisa and myself got to know her as a kind, patient, and very hard working person who raised her kids to be equally great individuals. I am also glad about the times that we had to talk over the past couple of years. The most memorable one was the chat we had as her retirement neared. She discussed her plans for her retirement as well answering all of my questions about how it felt to retire after working so long. It hurts to know that she didn't have a chance to do them. If anyone deserved a long and happy retirement, She did. We will miss her.
God bless all of you ......

My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to all who knew Pauline but particularly to her family. I only know second hand of the courageous way she lived her life and the valiant way, in which she fought at the end but I truly admire her spirit. I know of her compassion for her children and in the way that she raised them to be genuinely good and kind individuals. Carry on the lessons that she gave to all of you and she will live forever in your hearts. I pray that God will grant you all the peace of healing this loss and that you will find comfort in knowing that she is now in a better place. I know that she is proud of all of you who participated in her care, for a job well done. Love and prayers to all.

My deepest sympathy to all of her family at such a hard time.I worked with Pauline for many years at Gaylord and will always remember the many good times we had, the many laughs we shared with each other.Your Mother's kindness toward each and everyone of us, along with the patients was something so very special. She so loved her family and would share many of her precious photos of them with us and of course she would especially boast about her grandsons....She was a very special lady for sure and will always be remembered in a special way I am sure by each and everyone of us for a long time to come. I hope you all find the comfort that is needed in time to heal the pain of her loss.Remember she will always be with you no matter where you are and will smile down upon as a proud mother and grandmother would only do.....God bless all of you and I am honored that I knew your mom and she passed thru my life....Judy Anderson

Mom, We love and miss you so much. You were so strong throughout your illness, as you were throughout life. You saw the positive in any situation and you helped others around you to do the same. You are in our hearts and our memories forever. As I look back on our photo albums, it makes me appreciate your sense of adventure with the many trips you took; it makes me appreciate the good times with us and with your grandchildren, and it makes me appreciate the beauty of every day life that you carried with you always. We love you!! Wendy, Bob, Taylor, Zachary, and Max
