Ralph (Raffaele) Corsetti passed away peacefully at his son's home on September 20, 2021 in New Orleans, LA, at the age of 90. His battle with medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite a decline in health, Ralph was a hero to his family and stayed strong until the end.
Ralph was born in Arce, Italy, in 1931 and emigrated to the United States in 1946, following World War II when he, along with his mother and siblings, was reunited with his father in Boston. He attended Newton High School in Massachusetts, graduating in 1950. From there, he voluntarily enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1951-1955 during the Korean War period. He was a decorated airman serving in the military police with aircraft mechanic and flight engineering training. Following honorable discharge from the U.S. military, he became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.A. in 1955. He subsequently married his beloved wife Mimi (Domenica) Pullo in 1962, and they remained devoted to one another for 59 blessed years together. In 1955, he founded Corsetti Construction, Inc., for which he remained its president for over 35 years until his retirement in 1991 at age 60. He was a skilled mason and successful general contractor. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, gardening, home improvement projects, and wine making, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted Catholic and family man who cherished the value of education. He truly lived out the American Dream as an Italian-American immigrant. He is survived by his wife Mimi (Domenica) Pullo Corsetti; his son Ralph L. Corsetti, MD; and his daughter-in-law Jina B. Corsetti. Ralph (Nonno) is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren Jack Christopher, Ella Kathryn, and Carter Joseph Corsetti. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Angela (Pullo) Tacinelli (David), as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Eleuterio Corsetti and Assunta (Polselli) Corsetti also both of Arce, Italy; his sister Giulia (Julia) Corsetti and brother-in-law Donato Corsetti; and his brother Bernardo (Bernard) Corsetti and sister-in-law Maria Corsetti. He is also predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Giuseppe and Iolanda Pullo of Ripi, Italy. The Corsetti family would like to thank the doctors and home hospice nurses who cared for him faithfully to the last day. Ralph's family will receive relatives and friends at the Meriden Memorial Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Saturday, October 2, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. when the funeral procession will proceed to St. Rose of Lima Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
