Richard Bird Obituary

CHESHIRE - Richard (Dickie) Bird, 52, of Cheshire passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband on Margo (Fidalgo) Bird and loving father of Eric and Mathew Bird.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 30, 1957, the son of Gloria (Arno) Bird of Arizona and the late Richard Bird. He worked for Brunalli Construction Company for many years, then as a self-employed carpenter with brother, Mike for several years. Later he was a manager for Sam the Clams. Dickie loved golfing and the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed planting his garden and tending to his chickens. Dickie touched the lives of so many people.

In addition to his wife, boys and mother, he is survived by three brothers, Dan, Michael, and Jeff, of Southington; four sisters, Marsha Brunell of Massachussetts, Rosemary Passarelli, Jackie Colvin and Karen Hookey of Arizona; aunts, uncles, cousins, many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Bob Newman.

The family would like to thank the staff at Connecticut Hospice for providing Dickie with loving care the last days of his life.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 20, from 5 to 8 at Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St. in Plantsville. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

To Margo, Eric, Mathew, and all of Dickie's loving family,

May God grant you peace and fond memories at this very difficult time. Anyone that knew Dickie will remember him and his kind spirit that touched all of those he knew.

... the sun goes down yet leaves gentle warmth upon the land
the tide recedes and leaves beautiful seashells on the sand
the music stops, yet echoes on in sweet refrain
for everything beautiful that passes, something beautiful remains...

All of our love and support,

Elisabeth and Finn Gordon
