Robert "Buddy" Niezgorski, 80, of Wallingford, CT, died Thursday, January 12, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Bette Niezgorski. Buddy was born in Meriden, CT, on September 1, 1942, son of the late Joseph F. and Mary Niezgorski. Buddy was a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran. He worked as a steamfitter for the UA Local 777 Plumbers & Pipefitters until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and was an active member of the Wallingford Rod and Gun club, as well as the Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365. In addition to his wife Bette, he is survived by his children, Steven Niezgorski and his wife Susana Carrera of Virginia, Laura Cronogue and her husband Jim of Arizona; his granddaughters Hunter Niezgorski and Savanna Petrunti; his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bev Nize; and many extended family members and dear friends. His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Wednesday, Jan. 18th from 11am to 1pm. Military honors will be rendered and eulogies will be shared in the funeral home at 1pm. Interment will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be to the Wallingford Wishing Well.

Bette, I am so sorry to read about Buddy's passing in January. I was originally going to write to tell you how sorry I was to read about Sheila's passing, and was presented with Buddy's obituary. You are going through so much all at once. I am now living in Baltimore, near by son, in a wonderful retirement community. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Betty, Steven & Laura, I just recently found out about Buddy passing on. It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I'm writing this letter. Buddy was one of my all time favorite people to bump into now and then, oh how he brightened up my life no matter what he had to say, you just had to understand it Buddy, he was so full of life. My heart goes out to all of you in this time of great sadness, please except my sincere condolences. I know Buddy is looking down on us with a fishing rod in hand, may he rest in peace and catch the big one that got away.

Life will never be the same without that guy. We may have started out not liking each other but over the years that man sure did grow on me. I found a big huge heart and a love for life. Our family will sure miss him at the holidays and sundays as he stopped in every sunday on his way back from the club and holidays for morning breakfast. he sure has touched our hearts.

Our VCH, Veterans Coffee House meets monthly at the Wallingford and Cheshire Senior Center which not only gives our Vets the chance to socialize but also take part in enjoying a guest speaker which are related to military topics. We were founded in 2017 by Mark Halliday and Robert Boucher. Our Veterans are an exceptional group and our intention is to bring together to socialize, offer assistance and support. At this very difficult time, our group would like to honor the loss of Buddy Niezgorski as a fallen brother. Our military Veterans send out their heartfelt condolences to the Niezgorski family and friends. I met Buddy on the first job I was on when I got into the union and I admired his skill as a welder and his quick wit. I helped him do a little plumbing work his home and we had a lot of laughs. I offer my condolences to buddy’s family and I hope he rests in peace.
