Robert Waddell Obituary

Robert Waddell
05/29/2025
Robert J. Waddell, 88, passed away on May 29 at his home in Boiling Springs, PA.
He was born in Akron, OH and worked his entire career as a sales engineer for the Timken Company. It was there that he met his first wife, Elsie.
The couple moved to Sudbury, MA from Akron and had their four children (Bob, Jim, Jane and Ryan) there. Bob was descended from a Revolutionary War patriot, and he and Elsie participated in the reenactment of the Battle of Lexington and Concord every year.
The family moved to Southington in 1972, where they raised their family. Bob loved sports and coached several of his children's youth teams.
After Elsie passed away in 1995, Bob relocated to Boiling Springs to be nearer his family. He remarried (Kathy Sabatino) and gained two step-daughters (Denise and Janet).
Bob was an avid golfer and an obsessive bridge player. In his later years, he was an avid reader and puzzlemaker. He was a fixer of things.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents (Robert Groves Waddell and Verna Bean Waddell) and several bridge partners.
He is survived by three sisters (Jan, Carol, and Peggy), his children, his grandchildren (Bobby, Julia, Ashley, and Bradley), his step-daughters and step-grandchildren (Keira, Patrick, and Owen).

My heart is sad at the loss of my father in law, (albeit) divorced) as he was always very kind and loving towards me. He lived my two children, Bobby and Julia unconditionally and for that, I´m forever grateful. I´ll miss you Bob. You´ll always hold a special place in my heart.

My sympathies to my dear Aunt Jan, Uncle Tom and cousins. My aunt was very close to her dear brother. May God's peace be with his whole family. Love Leslie

Bob played a lot of bridge with my wife Denise. Because of that we became friends with Bob and Kathy. We had many good times together. Bob was a good man. We need more like him.
