Sandra Lagasse Obituary

SOUTHINGTON - Sandra ( Podgurski) Lagasse, 55, of Southington, played her last performance with her loving family by her side at the Hospital of Central Connecticut on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013.

She was the daughter of Sophie Podgurski and the late William Podgurski. She was a graduate of Southington High School.

Sandra had a love of music and she also loved animals and had been employed at Petco in Southington. Although Sandra's technical ability on the dulcimer matched the finest players in New England, it was her love and passion of music that made her exceptional. Working with Don Moore's D F#A group, and later helping Flute Punch, Two Chicks and a Guy, and Birch Creek, she was a driving force who gave 100%. Her knowledge of folk and Celtic music would impress a Juilliard professor. With her massive library of dulcimer on hand she was able to find the perfect song, know its history and play it perfectly. She had a musical gift that will be missed.

Along with her mother, Sandra is survived by her three sons, Brian, Matthew, and David Lagasse; and one daughter, Laura Lagasse; her grandchildren, Christopher, Brandon, Drayden, Damon, and Aurora; her brother, Mark Podgurski; and her beloved companion, Kevin Gallagher; along with aunts and cousins.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Venskunas Funeral Home, 670 Stanley St., New Britain, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations can be made in Sandra's memory to The Hospital of Central Connecticut Development Office, New Cancer Center, 100 Grant St, New Britain, CT 06050; or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, CT 06111. I was so very sorry to hear about Sandy's passing. We recently re-connected during my visits to Petco and I'm so very glad we did. She was exactly the same as we were as kids on Skipper Lane, the same humor the same smile. She will be very much missed. My sincere condolences to the family. Mandy Gutowski.

To My Daughter,

There will never be another you, so full of life, love, and compassion.
Whatever you had you would always share or give to someone else. You had that special gift of being able to talk to strangers as though they were your best friend. I will love and miss you all the days of my life.

Love, Mom
