Sandra L. Staniewicz

Sandra Lee (Heanssler) Staniewicz, 77, of Southington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at The Pines in Bristol. She had been the loving wife of Stanley J. Staniewicz for over 55 years. Sandy was born in New Britain on March 23, 1943 to the late Clifford and Mary (Stanek) Heanssler and had been a longtime Southington resident. She grew up in Maine and graduated from Deer Isle High School, Class of 1961. After high school she moved to Connecticut to work as a hairdresser. Sandy also worked as a licensed real estate agent and retired from Plainville Healthcare where she was as an administrative assistant for many years. Sandy loved to travel internationally and enjoyed gardening and shopping. She also adored animals, especially her dogs. In addition to her husband Stan, Sandy is survived by two children; son, Michael Staniewicz of Meriden and daughter, Catherine M. Rivera of Southington and two granddaughters, Breanna Alexandria Rivera of Wilkes-Barre, PA and Savannah Lee Rivera of Bristol. She is also survived by two brothers, Gerald Heanssler and his wife Sherrel and Richard Heanssler and his wife Bonnie, all of Maine, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sandy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Funeral services for Sandy are being celebrated privately.
