Sidney J. Margolis

HAMDEN - Sidney J. Margolis, 93, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at the Branford Hills Health Care Center. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Marcia Krinsky Margolis.  

Sidney was born in New Haven on Aug. 11, 1924 and was the son of the late Morris and Rose Shrobe Margolis. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II having received the American Campaign and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medals and the World War II Victory Medal. Sid had worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation for 29 years and later for the Maguire Group for nine years until his retirement in 1990.  

He was the father of Mark R. Margolis and his wife, Janice Heggie, Sheryl Smith and her husband, David; grandfather of Matthew and Mallory Margolis, Cedar Lofland and Joshua Heggie and his wife, Tara Cass;  great-grandfather of Cee Jay and Isaiah Lofland, Rohn Heggie; uncle of Steven Margolis and his wife, Rhonda, Stuart Margolis and his wife, Joanie, and David Margolis. He was predeceased by his brother, Leonard E. Margolis.  

The family would like to extend a "Special Thank You" Dr. Nadelman, Dr. Monaco and the Branford Hills Health Care Center for the excellent care and comfort provided to Sid.

Family and friends were invited to attend a graveside service  in the Adas Israel Section at Beaverdale Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to MADD, CT, 317 Foxon Road, East Haven, CT  06513 or the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT  06405.  The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., has been entrusted with the arrangements.
