Thaddeus Robakiewicz Obituary

Thaddeus S. Robakiewicz, 90, passed away with his daughter by his side, on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018 at Skyview Center in Wallingford. He was the husband of the late Florence (Bober) Robakiewicz, his beloved wife of 53 years.

Born on March 3, 1928, Thaddeus was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Sujak) Robakiewicz. A lifelong resident of Meriden, he was a graduate of Wilcox Technical High School and a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church. Thaddeus proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany. He was employed at AMF CUNO, from where he retired.

Thaddeus like to spend time outdoors, he enjoyed feeding and watching all the various types of birds that visited his yard, and especially liked to tend to his flower gardens. Thaddeus not only enjoyed his gardens, he annually loved to surprise his daughter, Joy, by planting all types of flower beds at her home. Thaddeus was a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics. In his later years, his daughter took early retirement to care for her Dad alongside her husband, Peter. The three looked forward to taking trips to visit different areas of Cape Cod, sitting on the beach soaking in the sun, and enjoying the smell of the ocean. A loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Robakiewicz is survived by his children, David (Kat) Robakiewicz, of Oxford, Miss., Joy (Peter) Greenbacker, of Wallingford, Thaddeus L. (Veronica) Robakiewicz, and Paula Bailey, of Edgewater, Fla.; six grandchildren, Peter Jr. (Livia), Brian, Nyles, Lindsey, Daniel, and Jesse; two great-grandsons, Peter III and Stephen Jr; his special cousin, George Koczon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Robak and Edward Robakiewicz; and his infant sister, Mary.

The family would like to thank the staff at Skyview Center and Connecticut Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care given to Thaddeus.

His funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 4 at 10:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Stanislaus Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. May you all have fond memories of your dad and grandfather. He was a sweet man and I enjoyed having little chats with him as I was taking my walks through the neighborhood. He always had a smile on his face and he reminded me of my own dad as he was sitting out front in his spot in the driveway and waving as I passed by. I'm sure he is at peace and happy in Heaven now with your mom and grandmother. Gods Blessings to you all.
