Eleanor "Elch" Robakiewicz neé Bryda, 90, entered immortality on the morning of January 15, 2025. She is survived by her beloved spouse of 68 years, Chester "Chet" Robakiewicz, who was at her bedside for her passing. Her son Phil and daughter-in-law Tina of Upton, Massachusetts also survive her, as well as her loving daughter-in-law Emily Arico Robakiewicz of Middletown, CT. Also surviving are her sister, MaryAnn Bryda D'Addario (John) and their son David and family. She was known simply as "Babci" to many and is survived by her three grandchildren, Elena (Matthias Kalisch) of Cologne, Germany, Kurt, and Max, both of Massachusetts, as well as her honorary German granddaughter, Daniela Glassen and her family. She was predeceased by her sons Paul and Peter.
A lifelong Wallingford resident, Elch was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School. She was a proud working mom for more than 40 years, serving as a trusted bookkeeper for several corporations, notably Wallingford Steel and Transformer Technology of Durham. Her feisty spirit was always warmed by a glowing smile and playful wit. She really enjoyed traditional Polish foods as well as a good plate of pasta with marinara sauce and a "nice hunk of bread". She and Chet also journeyed regularly to the Mashantucket Pequot reservation; the slot machines at Foxwoods casino were seldom lonely when Elch was around. She was a communicant of the Church of the Resurrection and was one of the founding member families of Sts. Peter and Paul R.C. Parish on North Orchard Street.
Elch will be remembered for her vivacious spirit, her dedication to her family, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her.
Elch's family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., on Wednesday January 22, 2025 from 9-10:30am. Her funeral procession will then leave the funeral home at 10:30am for a Mass of Christian Burial in The Church of Resurrection, Wallingford at 11am.
