Thomas Lumley Obituary

MERIDEN - Thomas Lumley, 85, of Meriden, formerly of Middlefield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, after a brave battle with cancer.

Tom was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Dublin, Ireland, son of the late Thomas and Margaret (McDermott) Lumley. After leaving his family's farm, Tom moved to England and later Canada employed as a mechanic before making his home in Connecticut working at Carabetta Enterprises and McClinch Crane from which he retired. Tom enjoyed tinkering with anything mechanical, sharing tales over a beer with his charming brogue, classic cars, all animals, music, time spent with family, and Sunday drives and adventures with his love, Joyce Anne.

Tom is survived by his son, Erik Ingman and his partner, Chris St. Germaine who were his loving and attentive caregivers; his adoring step-daughter, Meg Sweeney; step-son, Ralph Sweeney; and grandson, Jason Tsangarides, all of Meriden; and nephews in Ireland. Tom was predeceased by his dear siblings, Luke and Maura; and the love of his life and companion of 34 years, Joyce Anne Goldberg.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Thursday, Oct. 5, from 10. until 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Tom's memory may be made to the Meriden Humane Society or PETA.

His family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
