Traci Barba Obituary

MERIDEN - Traci Lyn Barba, 44, of Meriden died on Friday, May 23,2008, at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Meriden on Oct. 8, 1963, to Marilyn DiBerardino Miller and Richard Barba, Traci was an avid gardener who's favorite flowers were bleeding hearts. She loved to go "taggin" and found many treasures on those Saturday mornings. She spent many hours crafting and made many beautiful things. Traci loved spending time at the beach combing the sand looking for shells.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, William Arthur of Meriden; her daughter, Sara Miller of Meriden; one brother, Wesley Barba and his wife, Julie of Meriden; three sisters, Teri Arias and her husband, Luis of Oak Bluffs, Mass., Lisa Golebiewski and her husband, Chris of Meriden, Victoria Coleman and her husband, Robert of Fullerton, Calif.; her stepmother, Kathy Barba; her nieces and nephews, Vincent Bruno, Brendan Barba, Zackary and Joseph Golebiewski, Anabella Arias and Aidan Coleman; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to Dan Swanson who never left Traci's side, her best friend Laura Buonfiglio for all of her love and support, and Dr. Scott Gettinger and Dr. Andrea Berg together with their staff at Yale New Haven for Traci's care.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Thursday, May 29 at 10 a.m. at Water's Edge, 1525 Boston Post Road, Westbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yale New Haven Hospital Oncology Fund, P.O. Box 1849, New Haven CT 06508 or www.ynhh.org/develop.

To Tracys family ,Iam so very very sorry and deeply sadden to hear of Tracy,s passing. Me and tracy were very close friends in the early to mid late 80,s . I have a lot of great memories of the times we spent together. Her son b.j. her family and friends meant everything to Tracy,as time goes by people just go different way,s in life and you lose contact of your old friends. I often would think of her and wonder how she,s doing , saying to myself ,I should try to get in touch with her . She use to love to drive my truck, she,d drive that truck everywhere, I would often see her going all over town with B.j. straped in the car seat rite next to her (seams like yesterday) to those that remember that , it was the brown and white ford truck,I will pray for her and her family ,god bless ya Tracy.

To family, friends, loved ones, & Bj: Tracy & I go as far back as to when the day I first introduced her to Bj’s father Billy. We shared many child hood memories together. Her passing, much too early as it was, reminds me of just how fragile life is. My heart hurts for Bj. There are no words I can say to sooth the soul other then she was loved by many and she will leave a legacy of her life through her son Bj. I know the pain of an untimely death of a family member as I have just lost my Dad last month. No words can heal the pain. All I can say is the love of others in the family will help ease the pain. To Bj, you are so loved by your Dad & I only ask that you stay near him to help each other through your hurt. You mean a lot to me having joined your parents together. You mean the world to him. You are all in my prayers. God Bless.
