Antonio Andreas Obituary

Antonio J. Andreas

Northfield, MA - Antonio James "Tony" Andreas, beloved son, brother and friend, died on February 12, 2024 in Northfield, Massachusetts. He was 31 years old.

Tony was born in Greenfield, Massachusetts on November 27, 1992 to Nancy Jean (Campbell) Andreas and Dr. James Anthony Andreas. He attended Full Circle School, The Bement School, Eaglebrook School, where he was a member of the football and golf teams, and graduated from Deerfield Academy, where he was a member of the cross-country and golf teams. He spent a gap semester studying film in Oxford in the United Kingdom. Tony went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Science and Biology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar.

From a young age, Tony was an avid golfer, and could often be found at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, Massachusetts. He was inspired by the rise of Tiger Woods and followed the PGA Tour week in and week out. In the winter, he enjoyed skiing, particularly on the Eaglebrook hill in Deerfield, Massachusetts and in southern Vermont. Whether for golf or skiing, Tony had expert knowledge of the most technologically advanced equipment – which he proudly used himself.

Tony was a devoted, lifelong fan of the New England Patriots. In baseball, he cheered for excellence and achievement. This led him to follow the New York Yankees and then the Boston Red Sox. When an important Formula 1 race was on, he would be watching, regardless of the hour on the east coast.

Tony had an analytic and curious mind which he brought to sports and also to his other pursuits. Among these were cooking steak – a skill he was continually refining – and horticulture. He also loved dogs: Pennie, whom he cared for with attention and concern at the end of her life, and Sadie, who brought him comfort. At his core, he had a gentle and tender character, leading him to find the goodness in all those he knew.

Tony loved to travel. He had been to Italy several times, and to France. He was a fan of – and expert in – the latest developments at the Disney parks. He had also been to the island of Saint Croix in the United States Virgin Islands, where his family had a home, several times. On his most recent trip there, in January, he sailed around the island with a friend.

In addition to his parents, Tony leaves behind his brother, Mark R. Laramie of Washington, D.C., his sister, Katie M. Prondecki of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, his fiancée Megan Doull of Colrain, Massachusetts, two nieces, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents Jean (Raycroft) Campbell and Maurice M. Campbell, formerly of Montague City, Massachusetts, and Josephine (Addonizio) Andreas and Antonio Andreas, Tony's namesake, formerly of Beverly, Massachusetts.

Tony's family is intending to hold a memorial service and celebration of his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that a donation could be made to Eaglebrook School, a place Tony remembered fondly: Eaglebrook School, Advancement Office, 271 Pine Nook Road, P.O. Box 7, Deerfield, Massachusetts 01342. Please indicate that your gift is in memory of Antonio Andreas.
