Claire M. Senn

Millers Falls, MA - Claire M. (Crown) Senn, 94, of Millers Falls passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 29, 2025, at home. She was born on November 16, 1930, in Brattleboro VT. to Olive (Monmaney) and Harold Crown. She attended St. Michael Catholic School in Brattleboro VT. and Greenfield High School, graduating in 1949.

She married James L. Senn on Feb. 3, 1951, at Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield, MA and moved to Millers Falls where they raised their 10 children. They loved to dance and were members of the Jumptown Twirlers square dance club in Orange, MA. They owned and operated the J.L. Senn Excavating Company for 62 years and Senn's Gourmet Catering for 34 years. She also worked as a salesclerk at McClellan's Store, a seamstress and instructor for Singer Sewing Center, and as a machine operator at Threadwell, Bendix, and Greenfield Tap and Die.

She was an avid seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed living on her farm raising chickens, cows and poodles. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sitting on her porch bird watching and admiring her flowers. She enjoyed her time with all of her family, especially her granddaughters Sara Senn, Heather Dion and Shanna Clark who were caregivers.

She leaves her children: James F. Senn of Millers Falls, Charlene (Senn) DeVinney and husband Todd of Groton, MA, Lawrence Senn of Northfield, Thomas Senn, Martha Senn of Wendell, Karla Senn of Bernardston, Yvonne (Senn) Johnson and husband Terry of Orange, and George Senn of Millers Falls. She also leaves 26 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, several in-laws, and many cousins, nieces, nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband James L. Senn (Buddy), son Randall Senn, daughter Linda (Senn) Carme, daughter-in-law Debbie (Williams) Senn and son-in-law Robert Tyler, sisters Marguerite (Crown) Pinger, Pauline M. (Crown)Tatro and brother Merrill Crown.

Services will be Wednesday June 11, 2025 at 9:15am from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 84 K St., Turners Falls. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Millers Falls.

Calling hours will be Tuesday June 10, 2025, from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Munson St., Suite 103 Greenfield, MA 01301.

So very sorry for the loss of your mother, grandmother, great, great etc. From my memories, she was a quiet, sweet woman who always had a smile and welcomed me into her home on several occasions as the neighbor child down the road. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.
