Connor Powers Obituary

COLRAIN - Connor J. Powers, 17, of Thompson Road died Friday 11/17/17 as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Northampton on March 15, 2000, the son of Mark and Tammie (Whalen) Powers. Connor was a senior at the Franklin County Technical School in Turners Falls where he was in the electrical program.
Connor was a grade A student and an apprentice at Steve Keyes Electric in Whately. He also worked part time as a handyman at Genden Auto Parts. Connor loved to ski, and was employed at Berkshire East during the winters. Connor's dream job was to be an electrical lineman for Eversource.
Connor loved baseball. He played youth baseball in Colrain and continued his love for the game throughout his life, playing for the Mohawk Tournament Team, Babe Ruth and most recently the Franklin County Tech Varsity Baseball Team. Connor also played Suburban League football for Mohawk.
Connor loved cars, including Rally Cross Racing and was a member of the New England Racing Sports Car Club of America. He enjoyed snow mobiles, photography and pulling draft horses with his girlfriend, Jordan and her family. Connor had many friends and was extremely well liked.
Among his survivors, Connor leaves his parents, Mark and Tammie Powers; a brother, Kyle Powers; his paternal grandfather, Ronald Powers; his maternal grandparents, Martin and Bonnie Whalen; an aunt, Diane Murley; an uncle, Scott Whalen and his wife Lyndsay; maternal great uncles, Andrew Whalen and his wife Wynona and Peter Whalen and his wife Colette; a paternal great uncle, William Powers and his wife Mary; many cousins; his girlfriend, Jordan Hurlbert, and her family, Brad, Michelle and brother Jared; and an exceptional family friend, John Lamoureaux.
Connor was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Francese M. Powers in 2013 and his maternal great grandmother, Victoria Hines Whalen of Lakeville, CT in 2015.
Calling hours will be held Sunday 11/26 from 10am until 1pm at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls followed by funeral services at 2pm at the Colrain Community Church, 306 Main Road, Colrain. Burial will be private.
