Esther Howes Obituary

NORWOOD, MA - Esther A. Howes, 96, formally of 35 Bowker St., Lexington, MA, died June 14, 2013 in the Charlwell House in Norwood, MA. She was born in Whately, April 7, 1917, the daughter of Lucius and Florence (Bowman) Allis.
Esther was educated in Whately schools and graduated from the former Deerfield High School in the class of 1934. In her early years, she did domestic work and later married Howard W. Howes, Jr. on October 2, 1937, in the Whately Congregational Church. She worked as a cashier for the A & P store for 25 years. Esther was a member of the Whately Congregational Church.
She is survived by two sons, Richard A. Howes and his wife Paula of St. Augustine, FL and Lewis H. Howes and his wife Patricia of Walpole, MA. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Roger and Richard Allis and her four sisters, Ethel Kinner, Ruth Goodyear, Isabelle Howes and Francis Allis.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Whately Center Cemetery. There will be a visitation at 10 a.m. in the Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel, So. Deerfield, until the time of the service. Donations in Esther's memory may be made to the Whately Congregational Church, c/o Virginia Allis, Haydenville Road, Whately, MA, 01093.
