Francis Manix Obituary

PUTNEY, Vt. - Francis Russell Manix, 88, of Putney, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013, in Venice, Fla.
He was born May 6, 1924 in South Deerfield, Mass., the son of Atty. John T. and Alice Manix. He graduated from Deerfield High School and Deerfield Academy.
Mr. Manix lived in East Haven, Conn., Stamford, Conn., and Framingham, Mass., before retiring to Vermont.
He was a three-year veteran of the Navy sending two years on duty in the South Pacific. He joined with the Marines in the invasion of the Marshall islands. He was later assigned to the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Princeton.
Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked as a telegrapher throughout the country. He was later promoted to General Sales Manager for the New Haven Railroad and headed their office on Madison Avenue, New York City. Through railroad mergers, he served as New England Sales Manager, ending his career in Boston.
He was predeceased by a son, Alan T. Manix.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Walker Manix, whom he married in 1948; a son, Jack Walter Manix and his wife, Karen. Additionally, he leaves his granddaughter, Kristin G. Manix and her son, Keith Starlin; grandson, Dustin W. Manix and his wife, Cortney, and granddaughter, Jen (Manix) Paier and her husband, Tim.
A private graveside service will be held at the Dummerston Cemetery at a later date.
