Greenfield, MA - Gary W. Lovett, 68, of Shelburne Road died Sunday 12/11/22 at home. He was born in Ludlow, MA on October 21, 1954, the son of Howard and Shirley (Hawley) Lovett. Gary attended local Greenfield schools and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1974. He continued his education, earning an associate degree from Greenfield Community College.

Gary began a life-long construction career in Colorado. He worked for local companies and was superintendent for many years until his retirement from Warner Brothers of Sunderland last year. Gary was a skilled carpenter who helped family and friends with projects. Most recently he found joy in his work helping at the new Shelburne Falls Pub and Brew at the Sweetheart.

Gary had a comfortable, easy way with people and had many friends. He enjoyed travel with Lance, chats with Wendy and passionate (sometimes political) conversation with anyone up for it. He enjoyed the kids' sports games and recitals – he rarely missed one – and his presence and support will be missed.

Among his survivors, Gary leaves two sons, Timothy Lovett and his wife Sarah Marshall of Greenfield and Matthew Lovett and his wife Heidi of Colrain; three grandchildren, Lauryn & Alexis Lovett, and baby boy Lovett, who is on his way; four siblings, Joyce Morin and her husband Ken of Turners Falls, Steve Lovett of Greenfield, Brenda Dedinas and her husband Al of Greenfield and Terry Lovett and his wife Deanna of Northfield; and many nephews and nieces. Gary also leaves Aubrie and Matt LaFleur and their children Preston and Bella, who were family to him.

Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by a brother, Richard Lovett and a sister-in-law, Norma Lovett.

Funeral services will be held Friday 12/16 at 11 AM at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Green River Cemetery in Greenfield.

Calling hours will be held Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
