Heidi M. Haas

1964 - 2021

Heidi M. Haas, 56, of Millers Falls died Monday 3/15/2021 at home. She was born in Greenfield on November 10, 1964, the daughter of Willi and Carol Ann (Dunleavy) Haas. She attended local schools in Greenfield and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1983.

Heidi was employed at the A.H. Rist Insurance Agency in Turners Falls for thirty years where she took great care to go above and beyond for clients and coworkers alike. She was a firm believer in karma, and never failed to try and improve someone's day. She was a mother to all around her from a very young age.

Heidi was an avid reader. Stephen King, James Patterson and Michael Connelly were among her favorites. She was always looking to swap books or recommend a title.

She had a lifelong love of music: The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Tom Petty and Queen were among her favorites. Local residents have likely seen her jamming out in her car and singing along top lung as she went about her errands.

She was also very proud of her garden and plants, a source of joy that she found later in life. She loved to experiment and would pass along cuttings to her family on every visit.

Among her survivors, Heidi leaves a son, Michael Tombs and his partner Kate Gomberg of Grafton; a sister, Karin McDonald of Deerfield and significant other Jason Kelton; a brother, Robert Smith; her life long best friends Michelle Dihlmann and Lauralyn Brown as well as her beloved cat, Tigger.

Heidi was predeceased by her mother Carol Smith, her father Willi Haas, her stepfather Roger Smith, and her deeply loved dog, Chewbacca.

Calling hours will be held Saturday 3/27 from 10am-12noon at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Masks and social distancing are required.

There will be no funeral services. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Lauralyn Brown, DVM, in care of Heidi's Fund, 196 Millers Falls Road, Turners Falls, MA 01376, which was created to aid pet owners who may need assistance with their pet's medical bills.
