Jeanette Gale Obituary
Bernardston, MA - Jeanette E. Gale, 82 of Bernardston, Ma. died January 15, 2025 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Ma. She was born in Greenfield, Ma. on April 29, 1942 the daughter of Earl and Ola (Howe) Smead. She was a school bus driver for many years in Bernardston and Greenfield schools. She spent many years working with her school age children in her vegetable garden. She loved baking especially baking and decorating specialty cakes. She enjoyed watching Red Sox games, car racing, sewing and knitting. She was very involved in her communtiy in the Bernardston Library and Bernardston Senior Center. Growing up on a farm she learned to love animals and had many cats through the years.
She was predeceased by her husband Ellsworth "John" Gale.
She is survived by three children: David, Leon, and Lynn Nelson, five step children, two grandchildren Marybeth Nelson and Zebulun Herzig and more two great grandchildren Gabriella Hosier, and Duane Herzig. She was predeceased by two sons Daniel and Duane Nelson.
Funeral services will be Saturday January 25, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave. Northfield, Mass. Burial will be in the spring in Meadow Rd. Cemetery, Bernardston, Ma.

Jeanette was a feisty soul, she was strong and stubborn. Jeanette said what she meant and meant what she said. I will miss her. She volunteered many hours at the Senior Center and I will never forget her. I hope her family can find peace in her absence.

My great grandmother was a lovely person. She loved when I visited her. It was a lots of fun being at her house. I love her so much.

I remember having Jeanette as a bus driver and I absolutely adored her. She was always really good with the kids on her bus.

Jeanette was a joy to work with driving vans for Greenfield Public Schools. She was such a nice lady, loved by her fellow employess and the children she transported.
