Turners Falls, MA — Joan E. (Donnis) Mullins, 69, of Vladish Ave died unexpectedly Tuesday 12/28/21 at home. She was born in Northampton on March 31, 1952, the daughter of Bernard and Irma (Williams) Donnis. Joan was a graduate of Smith Academy, Class of 1970. Joan continued her education at Becker College in Worcester.

On July 27, 1974, Joan married her high school sweetheart, Gary Mullins.

Joan spent her career caring for others, working as an ophthalmic technician, a surgical counselor, and the medical director of several eye care centers in the Pioneer Valley. She was integral in the creation of the Eye and LASIK Center in West Springfield.

"Jojo" loved to travel, was an avid gardener, and engaged in a battle of wits with the squirrels that raided her backyard bird feeders. She lived her life for others, spending most of her time and energy on her family, caring for those that needed her and making her grandchildren laugh whenever possible.

Beside her beloved husband of forty seven years, Gary Mullins, Joan leaves a son, Michael Mullins and his wife Sarah of Lincoln University, PA; a daughter, Kristin Roach and her husband Craig of Gilsum, NH; two grandchildren, Hannah Mullins and Bodhi Roach; three brothers, William Donnis and his wife Nancy

of Alexandria, VA, David Donnis of Hatfield, and Paul Donnis and his wife Anne of Hatfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Joan was predeceased by her father, Bernard Donnis, her in-laws James and Shirley (Cramer) Mullins, her grandson, Aidan Mullins, her nephew, Eric Donnis and her brother in law, Thomas Mullins.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will take place later this year when everyone can gather safely.
