Joanne Balzarini Obituary
Bernardston, MA - Joanne Lee Hutchins Balzarini, 89, lost her courageous battle with cancer on November 3, 2023, with her son Darren at her side at their residence in Bernardston.
She was born November 24, 1933, in Watertown, MA to the late Ralph Hiram Hutchins, Sr. and the late Florence (Stillings) Hutchins. She graduated from Watertown High School. After graduation she attended accounting courses and was employed in the Watertown area.
She married Richard Balzarini in 1957 who predeceased her in 2015. They had three children: Lauri (Rice), Darren and Craig. Joanne had three grandchildren: Steven Rice and Nichole Rice of Bernardston and Amelia Balzarini of Colorado. She also leaves her sister-in-law Janet Hutchins, nieces, nephews, and longtime friends. She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Hiram Hutchins, Jr.
Joanne was the Director of Council on Aging for Bernardston and Northfield and later for Bernardston before her retirement. She was a member of the Bernardston Historical Society and other positions for the town of Bernardston. Joanne and Richard owned franchises in Greenfield and Brattleboro, VT, which included "Dunkin Donuts."
A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2024.
